Lace and cables

I’ve given up on the hat for awhile. Sarakate on livejournal gave me some tips on how to measure for gauge properly, and I’ve saved it and will implement them. Eventually.

Meanwhile, I’m almost done with the first clown sock and I’ve begun (ha!) making a cable-lace wrap.

I’ve learned a few things already.

 • Lace is all counting and stitchwork. Stitchmarkers help *a lot*. But it’s fun.
 • Clover circulars aren’t sharp enough. I’m thinking about getting something sharper. Not Addis.
 • Increasing 26 stitches over 100 is impossible. I know this because I’ve tried it four times.
 • Cables without a cable needle? EASY. Also fun.

I’m using Knitpicks Classic Merino in cloud, and I bought an extra skein for practice and swatches, and such. It’s lovely stuff and makes a very nice fabric.
